Bawa. In Your Following Letter You Say That You Are “Confused About Dhikr” And That Is Because You Are Trying “To Do” The Dhikr, While In Truth You Are “The Dhikr”, and that is for sure. Amen.
“Confused About Dhikr”
“Hello sir I'm 25 I began doing kriya yoga in December of 2007. In 2010, when I began to practice seriously everyday in 6 months, I had what my tradition at the time(I was a Christian at the time. Now muslim.) calls the baptism of fire and I began to speak in tongues when I was alone. Instead of God Allah would come out of my mouth and other Arabic words. Many more things like this drew me closer to Allah and I still feel I am on the correct path, but the way we did our breathing exercise was different. I was taught to inhale up from the bottom of the spinal column to the crown of the head using whatever mantra we were taught and then back to the tailbone. I thought I could merely replace my mantra with the kalimah and everything would be fine.
Things seemed to be going great and still are, but I read Dhikr: Remembrance of God today and Bawa(pbuh) talked about dhikr, but the way he described it is different and he said it must be done that way. Exhaling up from the feet to the heart with the left nostril and La Ilaha. Then inhaling through the right up to the crown and down to the heart. In the book titled The Resonance of Allah and on the sufistudycircle site there's reference to breathing from the bottom of spinal column to the arsh. It seems that is done with the exhale going up and the inhale going down. That is fine, but you can see my confusion I'm sure. Must I do this alternate nostril breath? I will have to use my hands if I do as I cannot yet do kechari and close them off with my tongue. Bawa mentions in another book the sulimunai which kriya calls the sushumna. I know this because it's the path of both nostrils.
Bawa says both sparks of the breath will join, on the sufistudy circle site. To me that means both nostrils will be used. How can my senses shut off if I'm using my hands? It seems my sushumna opens fine doing kriya. It's supposed to make the breath even in both nostrils. My body also twitches all over like Bawa says and when I bring energy down I feel it go to my feet. I thought there were many ways to do the dhikr from all the different descriptions. I can sometimes walk and do kriya, but normally I just try to repeat the kalimah in my heart. Will this really only work one way? Also if one of my nostrils is completely clogged can I not attempt to worship? This wasn't a problem with kriya. I will change if I must. I must reach Allah.
Please instruct me. I am praying that the speech he gave wasn't for everyone and he just meant a certain few should do dhikr like that. I have nowhere else to go it seems, and I'm extremely distraught. From what I can see you're the Qutb now Mr. Beutler and therefore you're connected directly to Allah. I'm sorry if my message is jumbled and if I didn't address you properly. Forgive any mistakes please. I'm beginning for you to help me reach Allah as you have.”
Bawa. Ok. For In Truth You Have Already Reach Allah, As We All Have, And “This” In Truth Is “The Dhikr”, Not Something That “You Say”, Or “Try To Say”, Or As You Are Doing, “Struggle To Say”, All of Which Is “The Very Thing” That In Truth Is “Separating You” From Allah, and that is for sure. Amen.
Bawa. In This Way, You Are Trying To Storm “The Gates of Heaven”, As They Say, Rather Than Become Heaven, For The Benefit of Everyone Else, and that is for sure. Amen.
Bawa. What Bawa Taught Us Was What Bawa Taught Us, And What God Is Now Teaching Us Is What God Is Now Teaching Us, And In Truth “They Are One”, But One Was For “Then” And “The Other” is For “Now”, Which In Truth Is Changing With Each Breath, So Start To Build Your Life Around What God Is Telling Us To Do “Now”, With Each Breath, Not Try To Learn And Hold Onto What God Told Us To Do Before, For In Truth This Is The Mistake That All of “The Religions” Have Made, And The Same Mistake That You, And That All of My Children, Without Exception, Are Now Making, and that is for sure. “I understand brother. Let Allah do the dhikr and let myself disappear. Technique doesn't matter too much, but intention, focus, and love do.

Ok, But How Can You “Let Yourself End”, That Is, “Let Yourself Disappear” When In Truth “You Do Not Exist” As “Separate From” Allah, For In Truth Only Allah Exists, And In Truth Allah Is “The Only Doer”, That Is, Allah Is “The Only Knower”, That Is, Allah Is “The Only Truth”, and that is for sure.
Bawa. So Here In Lies “Your Problem”, And “The Problem” of All of My Children, Without Exception, You Still Mistakenly Believe That Somehow “You Now Exist” As “Separate From” God Within You, And As Such, You Still Have “A Role” To Play In “This Journey” of “Your Soul” Back Into God, and that is for sure. Amen.
Bawa. But “That” Is “Just Not True”, And “That” Is What Is Preventing God From Doing What Only Can Do, Which Is To “End You”, Within “Your Impure Heart/Mind” Within “The Beast/Satan” Within You, And Reveal God, Within God Within You, and that is for sure.

Bawa. And “The Third Step” in “This Learning” Is To Start To Encourage God To Come Into “Your Life” As In Truth “His Life”, Not “Your Life”, For Example, As Bawa Teaches Us, By Learning,
“How Not To Get Out of Bed In “The Morning”, and that is for sure. Amen.
Bawa. That Is, By You Laying In Bed Until “God Is There” As “One With” Your Life, Not “You Are There” As “Separate From” God Within You, And Then When That State Has Happened, Witnessing God Get Out of Bed, And Starting “His Day”, Not “Your Day”, and that is for sure. Amen.
Bawa. And Then, Throughout “His Day” Witnessing God Living “His Universal Life” As “One With” All of “His Creations”, Within God Within You, Not You Participating In “Your Own Personal Life” of “Separation and Differences” On Some “Illusory Outside” of You, In “A World” of “Magical Tricks” And of “Possessive/Self Destructive People” of “Your Own Making”, and that is for sure.

“I feel I understand even better now. I studied more today and reviewed the video, "true dimensions of zikr." La Ilaha, I, this ego and world, are a nonexistent illusion. Ill Allahu, the silent awareness that calls itself Allahu only exists. I mistakenly believed I was a being apart from Him, but this is shirk. I must let the silent one witness and worship the silent one. I can do nothing because I am not and He is. No technique is needed to be. Allah will do all automatically by focusing on himself. Thank you brother.
